One Day Workshop on "PLC, AC Drives, HMI and SCADA"

  

One day worksho was organised for Final and prefinal year studetns in the field of "PLC, AC Drives, HMI and SCADA" by Electrical Engineering Department, about 70 students have attended the workshop and worked on hardware connections, Software knowledge (Ladder Programming on basic problems) and implanting SCADA for control of motor speed using variable frequency drive controlled by Schnider PLC).

Prof. Lakhwinder Singh, Dean Academics and Head of Electrical Engineering, Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Engineering College, Fatehgarh Sahib has presented his research paper entitled, "Fuzzy based best weight pattern for multiobjective thermal power dispatch”, in International Conference on Power Systems, organized by Central Power Research Institute, Bangalore, December 12-14, 2007.


Intelligentia - 2006


The IETE Students’ Forum of the college organized a one day seminar ‘Intelligentia – 2006’ on 10th October’2006. Dr. D.S. Pathania, Chairman, IETE Centre Chandigarh was the Chief Guest The coordinator of the chapter Er. Sarabpreet Kaur welcomed the chief guest and gave introduction about the IETE students’ Forum of the College. The Head of Electronics and Electrical Engg. Department, Prof. Lakhwinder Singh Introduced the chief guest t o the achievements of the college and motivated the students to participate in such seminars. The events of paper presentation and group discussed organized. The students actively participated in these two events. The chief guest also appreciated the students for their efforts, Prof. Gurpal Singh delivered a vote of thanks. On this event, the heads of departments and faculty members of other departments were also present.


39th Engineers’ Day

The 39th Engineer's day was celebrated by the student's chapters of “Institutions of Engineer's India” of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Engg.College, Fatehgarh Sahib. Prof. Lakhwinder Singh,Dean Academics of the college and Coordinator IE(I) delivered the welcome note.
Er. H.C. Berry , the Chief Guest of the function enlightened the audience about the achievements of the Dr. Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya. He told the students about the Institution of Engineers, its various memberships and their eligibility criteria.
Dr. T.S. Kamal was the Guest of honour.In his address, he discussed the application of Electronics in earthquake sensing and disaster management.
Dr. D.S. Hira, Principal of the college, presented the vote of thanks and discussed with the students environmental pollution and its management. He said that the special emphasis should be given to save the environment from the negative implications of modern technology. Dr. R.K. Gupta also addressed the audience. All the guests were presented with mementos by the principal and Prof. Lakhwinder Singh. In addition to lectures by experts, paper presentation, group discussions and other technical events were also organized for the students.

Prof. Lakhwinder Singh, Dean Academics and Head of Electronics & Electrical Engineering at Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Engineering College, Fatehgarh sahib was invited by Clemson University, South Carolina, USA, to present his research paper entitled, "Surrogate worth trade-off method for economic-emission dispatch", in International Conference on Power Systems held from March 14-17, 2006.

Pointing on achievement, Dr. D.S.Hira, Principal of the college, told that it is a matter of proud for college that our Professor has presented this research paper on International level. He was the only Indian in the Conference and got the grant from All India Council for Technical education (New Delhi), Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (New Delhi) and from college for his visit.

Professor Lakhwinder Singh informed that total 68 research papers were selected for presentation all over the globe; in our paper we have used the methodology to minimize the gaseous pollutants of thermal power plants, which effects the environment and human beings. He told that the conference was organized by Electric Power Research Association of Clemson University on advance metering, protection, control and distributed resources. He thanked his guide, Dr. J.S.Dhillon, Professor, Sant Longowal Institute of Engg. & Technology, Longowal for his guidance. He was highly impressed by the dedication of American scientists towards research.
